If my history serves me correctly, the Whigs were "incorporated" into the Republican party then.
I think that the U.S. should do what the Venezualans did when oil was discovered in their country. Let the big companies do all the work and then "nationalize" the assets. The same thing that the U.S. should do with Iraq. We invaded and virtually own the country and its assets. Just take them over and say the "Hell with the rest of the world."

Yep...isn't exactly the same as what history tries to make us believe...it wasn't exactly Lincoln comes out of nowhere forms a party runs a grassroots campaign and wins...It was more like..the Democratic Party sided with the right of states to determine whether or not slavery would be permitted and had become virtually the only powerful party. Members who opposed slavery and the state's right to choose voted against the Democrats and the candidate just so happened to be Lincoln...
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....
Correct. Lincoln wasn't the 1st. The party was 6 years into existence when he was elected. And Lincoln was himself a former Whig as were many others who were in the Republican party.
As for the Constitution Party, IMO as the Republicans continue to alienate the conservative wing of the party I see more and more coming into the Constitution Party. Most of Ron Pauls supporters will now vote for Baldwin as Paul has endorsed Baldwin and there will be many more who just can't hold their noses and vote for the Bushes and McCains that are shoved down their throats.
